PED-X LED PEDESTRIAN CROSSING LANTERN

In 2015 Wrexham Council decided that zebra crossings were required to assist crossing movements at two sites on Bangor Road, an urban stretch of road within Johnstown village near Wrexham. At the chosen sites it was also determined that good quality lighting would be desirable to enhance the zebra footprint at road level. The lighting would need to clearly illuminate pedestrian movement, but not cause light pollution outside the crossing envelope. Research by Wrexham Council into crossing illumination highlighted that the Signature PED-X 4M LED luminaire mounted on top of a 6m column would be a suitable for their requirements.

                  A spokesperson for the Environment and Planning Department said;

“The lighting installation was completed in April 2016 and the new lights have given a visible identity of the crossing area and footpath to approaching traffic giving a clear and crisp image of pedestrians walking across at night as the photographs demonstrate. There is little backwash and overspill outside of the target area that was a requirement to nullify potential light pollution to adjacent homes and property. The lighting chosen has been a successful contribution to making the crossings safe and visible during darkness.”
